and the new becomes the norm
Change can be hard for me to deal with, especially when there is too much of it that happens all at once.
I LOVE my new ibook. But switching to it has been a little overwhelming. I use my computer for work and for pleasure (mostly for work), so it really has affected every facet of my life. I was comfortable with my old way of doing things, and now everything is different. The differences are good for the most part. But the very fact of their difference means that I need some time to adjust.
It has been some time since I have posted here regularly. And in that time, I have found new ways and new places to self-publish. The thing I like most about BLOGGER is its visual appeal. Which means that I hated to just post my ramblings here without any visual backup (meaning photographs of my day-to-day world). I know I'm no photographer, but I really feel that photographs are a vital part of this type of journal. And since I was dealing with a new system with new photo-editing software (and an entirely new program for posting my photos in the first place), it took a while before I was able to teach myself how to do that again.
But I am here to say, I think I've got it now! The new system is actually much easier and makes more sense, now that I have had the time to explore it a little bit. Which pretty well sums up this entire transition (Mac just makes more sense).
This weekend, the changes in my life will take on a more physical form as I rearrange my home according to my new work style (less need for an office, more need for accomodating guests and a future roommate). I am excited about doing this! It's like making the changes official.
I spent the afternoon today working at my favorite local coffee shop. My third time doing this, and already it is becoming wonderfully familiar. How nice to do my work, still independently, but now with people all around who are equally caught up in their own work and books and studying and music. I had never even looked at the food menu before today, but something tells me soon I will be familiar with that too.
And so, the changes in my life are becoming the norm. I am getting comfortable again, which is good. I want to wait a while before shaking things up again. Here's hoping the cosmos will grant me that not-so-small request. It is, after all, not really up to me.
